*About us
YWAM International
YWAM (Youth with a Mission) International has over 50 years experience in more than 150 countries worldwide. YWAM is a Christian charity that offers global opportunities for volunteers from diverse backgrounds to serve, care, build, and connect with individuals and communities. YWAM is decentralised in structure and financially autonomous. This allows each centre to adapt and to serve the specific needs of the community.
YWAM Townsville
YWAM Townsville has operated for over 20 years with an aim to build capacity in young people and to develop the community through four focus areas: Training, Medical Ships, Youth Teams, and Operations. YWAM values individuals’ rights to quality of life.
The shared motivation is to provide people with:
• Access to good health care
• Food, drinking water, and shelter
• Opportunity for education
• Expression of culture, arts, and entertainment
• Healthy relationships
• Exposure to Christian faith and values
• Fair and productive government
• Opportunity to work and develop
YWAM Youth Teams
Through various camps, seminars, and community service projects, YWAM Youth Teams is actively engaging with today’s youth culture and guiding them through problems they may face. In order to do this, Youth Teams partners with teachers, parents, other youth agencies and government bodies to ensure the greatest possible positive impact. Furthermore, through the implementation of dynamic, integrated opportunities, youth are provided with the freedom to develop into the people they desire to be in an environment where the individual is respected and valued.
YWAM Youth Teams is helping to value, motivate, and empower young people in Australia and beyond through innovative approaches supporting schools, social clubs, organisations, and governing bodies addressing the following areas:
• Improving student’s motivation for education
• Establishing a positive community for them to thrive in
• Actively addressing and providing support to youth issues (ie self-harm, bullying, binge drinking)
• Promoting healthy lifestyles
• Strengthening partnerships and coordinating with and between stakeholders
• Building capacity in young Australians
